Introducing you to Red Sox past, present and future one infographic at a time …
Deven Marrero was drafted in the first round by Boston in 2012 out of Arizona State.
While his batting production isn’t ideal, he has had 15 plate appearances in 2017 (as of the All-Star break) with a runner on third base, and the runner has scored nine times.
His career, though, has been built around flashy, consistent glovework at every level. The Red Sox have utilized him at all infield slots since his Major League debut in 2015.
He has an uncle, Eli Marrero, and cousin with big league experience.
He was first drafted in 2009 by the Reds.
